The E-Gazette corrects factual errors promptly and tells readers what changed. A correction is attached to the affected article and added here when the original language could have changed a reader’s understanding.
June 18, 2026
Clarification: “Old Mill Road bridge set for July overnight closure.” An early version described the detour as eight miles. Public Works’ route sheet lists 7.6 miles; the story now says “about eight miles” and retains the department’s estimate that the trip will take most drivers about 11 additional minutes.
May 12, 2026
Correction: “North Cressvale branch trims summer calendar.” The first version placed the Thursday children’s program at 10:30 a.m. The branch schedule lists 10 a.m. The story was corrected the same afternoon.
February 26, 2026
Correction: “Merehaven plant and community college name maintenance apprentice cohort.” The cohort includes 12 apprentices, not 10. The headline and body were correct; a photo caption carried the wrong number and was replaced.
Our practice
Spelling, punctuation, broken-link repairs, and formatting changes that do not alter meaning are not normally logged. A clarification adds context or precision when the original statement was accurate but incomplete. An editor’s note may be used when the reporting process itself requires explanation.
Correction requests should identify the article, disputed sentence, and supporting record or firsthand knowledge. The contact policy describes how submissions are assessed. The editor decides the wording of corrections after reviewing the available evidence.
