Heat advisory changes Merehaven pool and North Cressvale program hours

Two county communities are adjusting public programs during the hottest part of Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Merehaven public pool will open later and two North Cressvale library programs will move indoors Tuesday and Wednesday while an afternoon heat advisory is in effect.

Merehaven moved open swim from noon to 3 p.m. on both days. The pool will remain open until 8 p.m., one hour later than usual, if evening conditions permit. Morning swim lessons are unchanged.

At the North Cressvale library branch, the 2 p.m. garden club will meet in the community room, and Wednesday’s outdoor story walk has been replaced with an indoor reading at the same time. The branch building will keep its regular hours.

The recreation department also postponed Tuesday’s youth practice at the north fields. Coaches will distribute a revised schedule through their usual team channels.

County Health Services advised residents to limit strenuous outdoor work during the hottest hours, check on neighbors who may need help, and never leave children or animals in a parked vehicle. Anyone facing a medical emergency should use normal emergency services.

This brief was compiled from notices issued by Merehaven, the county library, the recreation department, and County Health Services. It will be updated if the advisory or public schedules change.
